After some upgrades the MOWOG Novice School was a perfect event to clear out the winter cobwebs! This was a 2 day event, 1 day in the class room and the following day at DCTC for a practice.
Day 1: The classroom time was packed with great information. It was helpful to hear all the behind the scenes work that is required to run AutoX events with 150+ cars.
Day 2: Time to turn the wheel! This started out great, I was able to walk the course a few times and it was a nice layout and was easy to keep top of mind. My “work” for the day was in the timing trailer. This was a fun role for the day and it’s always fun playing with computers and some cool wireless sensors.
I ended the first session in 2nd place, this was EXCITING! Things were flowing, the instructors were so helpfu,l and I was improving almost each run.
As the day progress I was remaining consistent with each run, and was stuck right around 45 seconds for the course. You can view all the times here.
I kept trying to grab any extra time I could, and learned the hard way what can happen when you grab a few cones on the side skirt. Now I have a new project…
