The day was cold and windy, traction was low. All things considered my 2nd AutoX event was a huge success. About halfway through my 2 or 3rd run, I connected with the car and the course.
As the day continued I felt like I got in a good flow and I had the course down. Because of the cold weather traction was low, I feel like this was the single best learning experience I could have had in 1 day of AutoX.
Because of cold tires and overall low traction I was quickly learning during each run. By making soft gentle inputs, rolling on and off the throttle and brakes I didn’t disrupt the car. When you are smooth the car reacts smoothly and maintains traction. When you jerk the wheel or just smash the gas, the car then breaks traction making it slide or the vehicles weight transfers loading the suspension likely to your disadvantage.
Now it’s time to wax and polish the car, and store it for the winter. I can only hope spring 2019 will bring some upgrades, and lots of seat time.
